We share rehearsal space with the NJ Youth Symphony, whose site is at the back of a large low building which is in a business/ industrial complex. (You will likely see a sign which reads "Spectrum Discovery Center.") Pull into the parking lot and go all the way to the back of the building; you may park anywhere. There is an A&P strip mall right after the complex. So if you see the A&P you went too far! Get a free map, with personalized directions from your doorstep to the location, by using MapQuest at http://www.mapquest.com, or follow the instructions below:
- From the north: Take 287 south to route 24 East (Exit 37), then to Exit 7 (Summit / Livingston). Upon exiting the highway, you will be on River Rd. Stay on River Rd (Do not go to Short Hills Mall!). Go straight at the first traffic light. Go 1/2 mile and through next traffic light at Morris Ave. Just past Schering-Plough on your left, make immediate LEFT turn onto Passaic Ave. At next traffic light, cross Kent Place Blvd. About 1/2 mile further, bear RIGHT onto Constantine Pl. If you miss this turn, you may go short distance to next light and turn right). You are now on Springfield Ave. Go thru light at Maple Ave. and proceed to next traffic light in center of New Providence. Turn LEFT onto South St. Proceed to next traffic light at Central Ave. (Best Western is on your right.) Turn RIGHT and look immediately for large building on your LEFT. Turn left into the parking lot and go all the way to the back of the building; you may park anywhere. [There is an A&P strip mall right after the complex. If you see the A&P you went too far!]
- From the east: Take Rt 78 West to Exit 43 (New Providence / Berkeley Hts.). From exit ramp, bear RIGHT and uphill. Proceed to 2nd light at Mountain Ave, turn RIGHT. Go to 3rd light, just past Lucent (Bell Labs). Glenside Rd. is on your right; you should turn LEFT onto South St. Go down hill about 1/2 mile to next traffic light at Central Ave. Turn LEFT onto Central. Turn left into the parking lot and go all the way to the back of the building; you may park anywhere. [There is an A&P strip mall right after the complex. So if you see the A&P you went too far!]
- From the west: Take Rt 78 East to Exit 44 (New Providence / Berkeley Hts.). Exit onto Glenside. Ave. and follow signs to New Providence. At traffic light, turn LEFT onto Glenside Road. Go over hill (about 1 mile) and proceed thru next light at Mountain Ave. You're now automatically on South St. Go downhill to next traffic light. Turn LEFT onto Central Ave Turn left into the parking lot and go all the way to the back of the building; you may park anywhere. [There is an A&P strip mall right after the complex. So if you see the A&P you went too far!]
- NOTE: For Exit 43, there is no exit going east (use exit 44 instead). For Exit 44, there is no entrance going west (use exit 43 instead).
- Alternate Suggestions: Anyone familiar with Valley Rd (Rt 512) past Lyons hospital may take Valley Rd. east , which becomes Springfield Ave., thru Berkeley Hts. and turn RIGHT at traffic light at Central Ave., before even getting to New Providence (see map). Follow Central Ave. until just before next light at Central. The complex will be on your right, just AFTER the A&P strip mall.
