Tradition of Excellence Continues
Hickory Tree Chorus was awarded medals in two categories in Sweet Adelines International's Greater New York Regional chorus contest on April 24, 2010 in Philadelphia, PA. We won second place overall, and first place in the "AA" Midsize Chorus Division with our highest score ever, and the highest score worldwide in that division! This entitles us to compete in the Harmony Classic Division AA, which is held at the International Competition and Convention, in Houston in 2011, like the main contest. 2010 marked our 26th year of winning Regional medals, and our 13th under Master Director Carolyn Schmidt. We were also extremely proud that six of our members were awarded medals for their performances with the quartets Escape, Drive!, and The Four Baris.

Sweet Adelines International is a worldwide organization of female singers who meet regularly to practice, socialize, perform and sing a cappella four-part harmony music, barbershop style. Hickory Tree Chorus is looking for singers to join the thousands of Sweet Adeline International members in countries all over the world who value the joy of singing chord-ringing, fun-filled music.

Annual Scholarship
We are once again pleased to offer a $1,000 scholarship to a musically talented young woman interested in pursuing a career in music. Qualified high school senior girls with good academic records and exceptional talent in vocal music are encouraged to apply. Jeannie Allen Named Sweet Adelines 'Woman of Note'
Jeannette "Jeannie" Allen, a long-time Florham Park resident, was named the year's 'Woman of Note' by the Hickory Tree Chorus chapter of Sweet Adelines International in ceremonies held September 12, 2009 at the Sheraton Parsippany during the annual education weekend of the Greater New York Region of Sweet Adelines International. Each of the fifteen regional chapters honored a member who has inspired others by their contributions to the organization.
Jeannie has been a member of Hickory Tree Chorus chapter since 1971. She has held the offices of Chapter President, Treasurer (for several terms) and Secretary and has also served on most chapter committees at one time or another. Also, she is a former bass Section Leader and a current member of the Music Team. Jeannie also serves the fifteen chapters of the Greater New York Region as Regional Management Team Finance Coordinator.
